Caritas takes home goods, furniture, linens, and clothing. Here is a direct link to their donation page for further details. Take time to read what they don’t accept. Pick-ups are also available for a small fee.

The big win for CARITAS is they take mattresses! They have a bed oven. The bed oven kills germs and bugs making the mattresses ready for use. It’s super cool!
CON
No king-size or foam mattresses.
F.R.E.E.

F.R.E.E. accepts gently used walkers, canes, crutches, shower chairs, wheelchairs, and more medical equipment.

Donations in the Richmond and South Hampton Roads areas may be dropped off at any Goodwill of Central Virginia location.
CON
F.R.E.E. does NOT accept nebulizers, CPAPs, oxygen, hospital beds, tubing, tube feeding, etc. They also don’t do pick-ups.
Diversity Trift

SCRAP is a donation-based creative reuse store and donation center in Richmond, VA. They accept art and craft supplies of all kinds. They accept donations Tuesday-Friday and request no donations on Saturdays. Go to their donate page to learn more about what they do and don’t take.

There are so many items they will take because so many things can be used creatively. Do your best to bring items in an organized manner.
CON
At the present time, the store is small and they’re busting at the seams with donations. Soon they are moving to a bigger building on Brookland Park Blvd.

Generally, they take towels, blankets, unused (or very gently used) pet supplies, and toys. Unopened pet food, medical supplies, etc.

Furbish

They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays and they don’t accept donations on these days.

They offer furniture and appliance removal, light demolition, construction debris removal, and big clean-outs. We have partnered with Junk Shuttle for years and recommend them highly.
