The Snowball Decluttering Technique Could Help You Get Organized. (LivingEtc.com)

What is the snowball decluttering technique? How can it help me get organized? Keep reading to find out.

There are several organizing techniques that professional organizers use. I like to think of them as tools in our “professional organizer tool kit.” I learned from Judith Kolberg in her book Conquering Chronic Disorganization one of my favorite techniques. I’m not sure the technique has a name but the technique is holding an item for the client as you ask them if they want to keep, donate, or toss it. Touching an object may make it more difficult to let go. Therefore, holding items for the client helps decision-making go faster and reduces stress for the client.

So what is snowball decluttering?

Here in this article, I share what it is and how it’s used. Let’s say you decide to get rid of a craft item because you have lost interest in doing the craft, you likely have other items that you have also lost interest in. In essence, you are using your motivation to declutter one item and using that motivation to declutter other items, and in theory, you create a snowball effect and end up with a large pile of items you can remove from your home.

There are other ways to use the technique. Read this article “How to use the “Snowball Decluttering Technique” — It Might Actually Help you Organize Your Home in 2024″ to learn more. You may find you can apply this technique on your own and begin to declutter your home!
