Jack and Jamie

Three children, and no time to organize the home

Jack contacted Sara Jane Organizing because he and his partner Jamie were tired of the clutter. They needed help. They had three boys, all under the age of 7. For the past 7 years, they have been getting by, but now that the boys are getting older, they feel they can finally put some effort into maintaining their home. The kids’ rooms and playroom were in good shape, but Jack and Jamie’s bedroom, closets, craft room/office, kitchen, attic, and garage have all been neglected for many years. Sara agreed to meet them for a consultation, see their home, and develop a plan to get them organized.

After a house tour, Sara determined that the craft room/office was backing up the rest of the house. Items throughout the house that typically belong in a craft room or office were in various areas of the home. Therefore, Sara advised that her team start in the craft room. The craft room would hold memorabilia, craft supplies, paperwork, and toys that need to be used with adult supervision. Making room for these items meant many areas of the home began to improve as well. We also needed to go through items because many could be donated or purged.

A team of three organizers worked a full day to organize the craft room. We created space to work on crafts, put crafts away by category, gathered paperwork in one place, and collected memorabilia, which tended to be large pieces of kids’ art. We sorted through books, games, and toys, and created space to store each.

When we started, the floor was covered. By the end of the day, we had the whole room in order. Jack and Jamie were even able to work from home while we worked. The space was completely transformed. We even implemented cute bins on shelves to store craft supplies for visibility and easy access.

Jack and Jamie were pleased with the results and can’t wait to have us back to tackle the attic and garage!
